Digital satellite technology is a wonderful thing, but unfortunately there is a great lack of
knowledge among some of the so-called "professional" installation community.  This is not
normally an issue when utilizing companies that install and maintain true Commercial
equipment, but is often a great concern for the typical residential consumer shopping for
a qualified installation or repair company.

Satellite hobbyists have discovered that many technical chores can be done quite
adequately on a Do-It-Yourself basis.  Armed with the proper knowledge and some
determination to do it themselves, many end users might also be up to the task of
aligning (and sometimes installing) their own satellite reception equipment.

Global Communications has been assisting all types of satellite equipment users for many
years, and has put together two levels of test equipment that should prove to be adequate
as well as cost effective for the hobbyist as well as the one-time user wanting to do their
own installation.

The TRIMAX SM-2200 is a breakthrough in medium-cost test equipment that allows the user
to accurately set and access parameters for individual satellites as well as view actual
receive pictures via an LCD screen on a portable battery operated test set.  At a price of
469.00, it is a fraction of the cost of a professional spectrum analyzer, and does many of
the required tasks just as well.  Its portability as well as accuracy make it indispensable for
the person that professionally installs satellite systems, as well as the occasional hobbyist
that makes repeated trips to his antenna farm in search of better reception and more signals.

We have modified a recent entrant to the low end of the digital satellite receiver market and
combined it with a low cost in-line satellite tuning meter to create an incredibly low cost but
still effective duo.  Its price of 129.00 is more in line with the average consumer, and the bonus
is that the satellite receiver can be put to full-time use afterwards with a spare satellite antenna,
for the enjoyment of Free-To-Air radio and television signals.  Click on the above links for more
information on acquiring some equipment that will allow you to call the shots in keeping your
digital satellite system running smoothly.
